About

I’m an Australian writer and photographer, working mostly in essay, reportage, and criticism. I’m currently finishing a book about masculinity in Australia and the Anglosphere.

My work has appeared in New York Magazine, Meanjin, Overland, the Sydney Morning Herald, Archer Magazine, the Star Observer, and Honi Soit. Increasingly I also publish substantive work on my Substack, Kitchen Counter.

I am a ghostwriter on major book projects, and previously co-authored the Out On The Fields report, an international study on homophobia in sport, as well as research on subjects as varied as the philosophy of Richard Rorty, the poetry of Seamus Heaney, and the politics of environmental NGOs in China.

For better or worse I was a 2018 Schwarzman Scholar, studying a Master of Global Affairs a Tsinghua University, and have a BA with honours in English Literature and an MA in Philosophy from the University of Sydney. I live today in Australia.
